We found a good bookstore in Hamra

On Monday I took the boys to the bookstore August got a gift certificate for on his birthday from one of his friends. It’s called Antoine and is not far from our house, on Hamra Street. It’s a nice, big bookstore, with lots of schoolbooks. August picked out a few Jack & Annie books (The Magic Treehouse) and the rest of us looked around. Because Abraham has not been well we couldn’t stay as long as I might have wanted, but it was still nice to explore the city a little and find such a treasure. We’ll definitely be back again!

  1. Hello! We are a Canadian family traveling to Cairo for Christmas this year, any suggestions of things to do with the kids, or where to go for Christmas dinner? Thanks:)

  2. Hi! You should definitely visit the pyramids, of course, the Egyptian Museum, Sakkara, and the Khan al khalili. Make sure to go for a camel ride through the desert. And don't miss the citadel, from where you can see the pyramids on a good day. There's a really nice hike out past Maadi, in the Wadi Degla. That's where we spend a Christmas Day one year - in the desert. Dinner is best consumed among friends or other expats. If you like, I can put you in touch with friends there who will be around for the various expat Christmas parties and dinners. Let me know! I'm sure the fancier hotels host Christmas dinners, but I've had no experience. So excited for you to see Cairo!!
